Onion Chutney is one of the most popular chutnies made very often with most of the tiffin items,goes well with Idly, Dosa, Uthappam,Pongal, Adai.
- Onion-Medium size-3
- Tomato-Medium size-1(optional)
- Dry Red Chillies -4(adjust as per your spice level)
- Channa Dal/Kadalai paruppu(Optional)-1 tbsp
- Tamarind-blueberry size
- salt to taste
Take a pan add little oil, fry red chillies and keep them aside now add channa dal and fry till you get nice aroma and keep them aside, now saute onion till they become translucent ,add tomato and saute till it dissolves.Now grind all the ingredients together with tamarind and salt.
- Mustard seeds, split black gram
- curry leaves
Add the tempered mustard seeds,split black gram and curry leaves to the chutney , add some gingelly oil to the chutney if you find it spicy.
